The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to members against actions that could undermine party unity or disrespect Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Tinubu.
The announcement was made by State Deputy Chairman Alhaji Nasiru Jahun during a visit to the Government House, where a delegation, including members of the State Executive Committee and chairmen from all 27 local government areas, reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Namadi, whom they recognised as the APC leader in Jigawa.
Jahun emphasised the party’s unwavering support for both Namadi and Tinubu, endorsing their leadership for second terms in 2027.
He praised Namadi’s administration for its “wonderful transformation and unprecedented achievements” within two years, describing them as historic for Jigawa’s development.
However, he cautioned that the APC would sanction any member whose actions threaten party cohesion or disrespect state leadership, likening their loyalty to Namadi to the comical character ‘Maha’ who unquestioningly follows his teacher.
Governor Namadi, in response, expressed gratitude for the solidarity and assured continued cooperation with the party, promising fairness to all members.
He highlighted that both federal and state governments under the APC are committed to people-oriented policies and developmental projects.
The warning comes amid escalating tensions within the Jigawa APC, with factions loyal to Namadi and former Governor and current Minister of Defence Muhammad Abubakar openly clashing.
The rift, simmering since the 2023 power transition, has recently erupted into public confrontations, with supporters exchanging harsh words.
Neither Namadi nor Badaru has directly addressed the crisis.
