Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reassured residents across the state’s three senatorial districts that no community will be overlooked in the administration’s ongoing infrastructure development agenda.
According to a statement released by the governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the government is currently executing projects simultaneously on four major highways in the busy Ifo, Sango Ota, and Idiroko corridors.
Akinmade addressed concerns regarding alleged neglect of some deplorable roads, dismissing such claims as “mischief.”

He clarified that the administration is committed to spreading the dividends of democracy to all areas, including the Lafenwa-Itele Ayetoro stretch.
He disclosed that the highly-complained about Ota-Itele-Lafenwa stretch (approximately 24 kilometers) has already been incorporated into the proposed 2026 budget, a decision made well before recent public complaints.
Akinmade noted that the state government is taking the lead in fixing key highways that are under the Federal Government’s jurisdiction including: the 140-kilometer Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway and the Sango-Idiroko Highway, which is currently under construction by the state.
Akinmade also highlighted significant progress in the area, including the completion of approximately 22 kilometers of the road linking Ijoko, Agbado, and Alagbole.
He provided a list of 14 roads completed by the administration in the Ifo–Ado Odo–Ota axis.
These include the Ikorita Meta, Adenrele/Olose Titus Vespa Road (3.1km); the reconstruction of Sango Ota–Oke Aro–Ojodu Abiodun Road, Lagos end (Yakoyo to Mr Biggs) Phase 6 (1.6km); and the reconstruction of Sango Ota–Oke Aro–Ojodu Abiodun Road (Sango Roundabout to Ijoko Bridge) Phase 1 (8.5km).
Other completed projects are the Atan–Lusada–Marogbo Toll Road (19.2km), Akute–Denro–Ishasi Road (4.8km), Akute Bridge–Oke Aro Bridge (9.2km), and Lafenwa–Osi–Ikola Road (7km).
While acknowledging the right of residents to demand improved governance, Akinmade warned the public to be cautious of the “antics of opposition politicians” attempting to incite public unrest and tarnish the government’s image.
He stressed that the roads currently drawing complaints, like many others in the Sango-Ota axis, were part of the enormous infrastructure deficit inherited by the administration in 2019.

This deficit included the severe disrepair of vital arteries such as the Sango-Ijoko-Agbado-Oke Aro-Lambe-Akute road; Sango Ota-Papalanto-Abeokuta road; and the Sango-Idiroko road, when Abiodun took office.
Akinmade reaffirmed government commitment to running a transparent, people-driven administration that will continue to address public scrutiny without allowing political detractors to derail its work.
