The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed an alleged scheme by individuals, purportedly backed by external forces, to destabilise the party through unauthorised activities.
The ADC condemned these actions in the strongest terms, declaring any unsanctioned gatherings, meetings, or assemblies as illegal and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on Thursday, by Chief Macdonald Amadi, the ADC Imo State Publicity Secretary, the party vowed to uphold its integrity and stability.
The ADC warned that members engaging in such disruptive activities would face disciplinary measures, including sanctions, as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
“We will not tolerate actions that undermine our unity or distract from our objectives,” Amadi stated.
The statement urged all members to remain disciplined, steadfast, and united in pursuit of the party’s collective goals.
“The ADC in Imo State remains focused, strong, and on track,” Amadi affirmed, reassuring members of the leadership’s commitment to maintaining order and advancing the party’s agenda.
The party’s alert comes amid growing concerns about political manoeuvring in Nigeria’s opposition landscape, with the party accusing external forces of orchestrating efforts to sow discord.
While specific details of the alleged plot were not disclosed, the party’s swift response signals its determination to protect its internal cohesion and resist external interference.
The party called on its members to report any suspicious activities and to adhere strictly to official channels for organising events or meetings.
The leadership reiterated its commitment to transparency and discipline, emphasising that only authorised activities align with the ADC’s vision for Imo State and Nigeria at large.
