Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has firmly denied rumors suggesting he defected secretly from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Sunday during a visit to the residence of Professor Saasongo Nongu in Makurdi, the state capital, Suswam described the allegations as unfounded and insisted that his loyalty to the ADC remains unwavering.
“I am too big to dump the ADC in secret. Leaving the party quietly would be the height of disgrace to my personality and a betrayal to my loyalists,” Suswam declared emphatically.
According to him, such a move would not only undermine his political stature but also betray the trust and support of his followers, who have remained loyal throughout his political journey.
Suswam, who also served as a lawmaker before his tenure as governor, reiterated his dedication to the ADC, emphasizing that he remains fully committed to the party’s growth and success. He stated that his focus remains on consolidating the party’s position within Benue State and expanding its reach beyond the state borders.

During the visit, Suswam called on members of the ADC in Benue to unite behind Senator Mzondu, whom he described as a visionary and dependable leader. He praised Mzondu’s ability to uphold the core values and principles of the ADC, urging party faithful to support him in his leadership role.
Senator Mzondu, in his remarks, expressed profound gratitude for Suswam’s mentorship and guidance. He described Suswam as a political father figure whose wisdom has been instrumental in shaping his political career. Mzondu pledged his unwavering loyalty to both Suswam and the ADC, vowing to work diligently to further the party’s objectives.
“Senator Suswam has been a political father to me. His wisdom and leadership have shown me the right path to follow, and I remain loyal to him and the cause of our great party,” Mzondu said.
As the political landscape in Benue State continues to evolve ahead of future elections, Suswam’s public reaffirmation of his allegiance to the ADC sends a strong message against speculation and highlights his intention to remain a key player within the party.
