The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, described the defection of supporters from opposition parties in Katsina State as a “great and historic day.”
On Sunday, several defectors, primarily from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Accord Party, and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), among others, officially joined the APC.
While addressing the defectors, including Rabiu Bakori, the PDP deputy governorship candidate for the 2015 election in Katsina, Ganduje assured them of equal treatment.

He emphasised that the APC remains the only party committed to delivering true dividends of democracy to the citizens.

Speaking at the official flag-off of the APC Local Government Elections Campaign held in Ingawa Local Government Area, Ganduje, along with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), welcomed the defectors.
He commended them for their dedication, hard work, unity, hospitality, and religious values.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continuing its developmental initiatives under the APC.

He expressed confidence in the party’s victory in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for February 15, 2025.
As part of the ceremony, the APC presented the party’s flag to its 33 chairmanship candidates, marking the official commencement of its local government election campaigns.
