Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, a major step toward fulfilling his administration’s promises to the people of the state.
The signing ceremony took place on Monday at the Exco Chamber in the Governor’s office in Akure, with the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, state lawmakers, members of the executive council, and other key stakeholders in attendance.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the 2025 fiscal plan, dubbed the “Budget of Recovery”, as a bold and strategic move aimed at revitalizing the state’s economy and addressing its socio-economic challenges.
He emphasised that the budget marked a critical moment in his administration’s journey and was a fulfillment of the promises made during his election campaign.
“This is a critical moment for our administration, one that marks a significant step towards fulfilling the promises we made to the people of Ondo State during the electioneering processes,” he said

The budget, totaling N698.659 billion, allocates N433.622 billion (62.06 per cent) to capital expenditure and N265.037 billion (37.94 per cent) to recurrent expenditure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa added that the prioritisation of capital expenditure would stimulate the economy and drive large-scale infrastructural development across the state.
The governor highlighted that the budget had been shaped by input from residents through town hall meetings held across Ondo State.
The 2025 budget includes substantial allocations to agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and social welfare.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed that these investments are essential to improving the lives of the people and securing a prosperous future for the state.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the governor announced that the 2025 budget would be made available on the state’s budget portal starting January 1, 2025.
“The 2025 budget is a tool for achieving the O’DATIWA O’DIRORUN (OUR EASE) goals, and we will ensure its implementation is done with utmost responsibility and efficiency,” he affirmed. “I want to reassure the good people of Ondo State that our government remains focused on its goals of economic development, achieving sustainable food security, resilient community development, and the facilitation of social inclusion and security.”
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to advancing key sectors of the state’s economy.
He noted the upward revision of the budget from N655.230 billion to N698.659 billion, reflecting the administration’s determination to address the growing needs of the state.
The Speaker also praised the governor for signing several key legislative frameworks into law, including the Agriculture Law, Transparency Law, Building Plans Law, and the Anti-Land Grabbing Law.
These laws, he said, represent significant strides in promoting good governance and ensuring social justice.
