Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has joined millions of football fans in wishing Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, a speedy and full recovery.
Awoniyi is currently in an induced coma in hospital following emergency abdominal surgery.
Induced coma is a medically controlled state of unconsciousness used to protect the brain or body after severe injury or surgery. It helps reduce movement, pain, and stress on vital organs.

The 27-year-old collided with a goalpost during Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Sunday, resulting in a ruptured intestine.
Despite initially continuing to play, he was forced to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

Although his condition is not believed to be life-threatening, medical professionals placed him in an induced coma to limit movement and stabilise his heart rate.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, AbdulRazaq described Awoniyi as more than just a footballer.
He called him a proud son of Kwara State who has consistently given back to the community that raised him.
He wrote, “I join millions of football lovers around the world in wishing Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest star, Taiwo Awoniyi, a successful recovery following his recent injury.
“Taiwo is more than just a footballer — he is a proud son of Kwara State who continues to give back generously to the community that raised him.
