Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed recent allegations made by the former Head of Service (HoS), George Nwaeke, describing them as false and politically motivated.
Among the allegations was that Fubara was conniving with militants to blow up oil pipelines in the state amid the political crisis rocking Rivers.
In a statement issued on Saturday Governor Fubara refuted claims aired on Channels Television, where Dr Nwaeke alleged that the governor was involved in secret meetings to support Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s purported 2027 presidential bid.
Fubara rejected the allegations, stating that it was ‘laughable’ to suggest that a serving Head of Service would be privy to such high-level political discussions, let alone be present at any ‘night meetings’ with Bala and militants.
He clarified that Governor Bala’s visits to Rivers State, in his capacity as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, were public events with no hidden agenda.

Dismissing claims of meetings with militants to destabilize the state, Fubara reiterated his commitment to peace and governance.
“There was no time I held any meeting with militants or any criminal group to destabilize the state. It is on record that I have consistently preached peace, even in the face of provocation,” he stated.
The governor alleged that Nwaeke had been compromised and was acting under pressure from undisclosed parties aiming to tarnish his reputation and disrupt the peace process initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
Fubara urged the people of Rivers State and Nigerians at large to disregard Nwaeke’s claims, calling them a desperate attempt to discredit his administration.
The political tension in Rivers State has heightened in recent months, with ongoing power struggles and conflicting narratives shaping the state’s political landscape.
