Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sent a clear message to his newly appointed Special Advisers that there is no “honeymoon” period.
Speaking on Friday, during the swearing-in ceremony at the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor emphasised that his administration is entering a high-velocity phase of governance focused on recovering lost development momentum.
The governor administered the oath of office to five seasoned professionals, many of whom are familiar faces within the state’s political and academic circles.

They’re Eloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works, Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Fubara, Victor Ekaro and Darlington Oji.
Fubara noted that these appointees were strategically selected because they already understand the “philosophy and direction” of his administration, ensuring there is no learning curve as they resume duty.
In a direct and sobering charge, the governor warned the new aides against complacency.
He clarified that their roles are not ceremonial titles but high-pressure assignments to fulfill the government’s “social contract” with the people of Rivers State.
“So what we’re doing this afternoon is bringing in some persons on board to ensure that the wheels of governance continue to roll smoothly in our state,” Fubara stated. “It is not pleasure, it is work… don’t let us down.”
The appointments come at a critical time as the administration seeks to insulate governance from the lingering political tensions in the state.
By bringing in former commissioners like Peter Medee and Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Fubara is signaling a return to technocratic expertise to drive the state’s 2026 economic agenda.
The governor’s key mandates for the new advisers include ensuring the swift completion of ongoing infrastructure works, maintaining a steady administrative hand despite political headwinds and delivering tangible improvements in the daily lives of Rivers citizens.
