The Federal Government (FG) has announced plans to adjust telecom tariffs while assuring Nigerians that the increase will not reach the 100 per cent hike proposed by operators.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja yesterday.

Tijani maintained that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been tasked with developing the framework for implementing the tariff adjustment in the telecom sector.
He said the government considered various measures to ensure the telecom sector continues to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s development.

He emphasised the importance of safeguarding telecom infrastructure, promoting local content, and ensuring the sustainability of telecom companies in the face of global inflation.
Tijani also addressed recent calls by telecom operators for a 100 per cent tariff increase, saying a 100 per cent increase was not something the government can approve at this time.
