The Federal Government (FG) has thrown its weight behind the Super Eagles ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final showdown against host nation Morocco on Wednesday.
The message of support was conveyed in a statement signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on behalf of the FG, assuring the team of the nation’s unwavering backing and urging them to go all out for victory.
Idris said the Super Eagles had reached this stage of the tournament before and understood what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

He noted that, from past AFCON triumphs to hard-fought victories over formidable opponents, the team had consistently flown Nigeria’s flag with pride.
“As you prepare to face Morocco in the AFCON semi-finals, I want you to know that the whole of Nigeria stands firmly with you. Your journey so far has been inspiring,” the minister said.
“Match after match, you have shown discipline, courage and belief, reminding us why the Super Eagles remain one of Africa’s most respected teams.”
He stressed that the team’s success at the tournament was no accident but the product of teamwork, confidence and a strong fighting spirit.
According to him, the players had maintained high morale throughout the competition and should remember that they would not be alone when they stepped onto the pitch.
“You carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians who believe in you and draw strength from your performances. Play with the confidence of champions, the unity of brothers and hunger. Know your history and your worth,” Idris said.
The minister urged the Super Eagles to remain focused, trust one another and give their all from the first whistle to the final moment.
