The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended warm Christmas felicitations to the residents of Lagos and all Nigerians, calling for a season defined by kindness and communal support.
In a festive message issued through his Special Adviser, Gboyega Akosile, on Thursday, the governor highlighted the importance of compassion, urging citizens to act as their “brother’s keepers” during the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the true essence of Christmas lies in reflecting on the life of Jesus Christ and emulating the virtues of humility and tolerance.

He noted that the holiday provides a vital opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen their social fabric.
“We should seize the opportunity of the celebration to strengthen our love for one another by being kind and generous to the people around us,” the governor stated.
He urged Christians in Lagos to promote harmony by continuing to live in peace with believers of other faiths, to practise tolerance by emulating Christ’s examples of perseverance and compassion, and to show generosity by reaching out to those in need within their immediate communities.
Reflecting on the past year, the governor praised the resilience of Lagosians.
He acknowledged that while the year brought various challenges, the “sense of community” displayed by residents remains a source of hope for the future.
“This season is a time to reflect and appreciate how far we have come together as a people,” Sanwo-Olu added, thanking the public for their continued belief in the “Greater Lagos” vision.
He urged Christians in Lagos to embrace the true values of the season, including compassion, selflessness, and care for one another.
While delivering his Christmas message, the governor’s administration remained active on several fronts.
