Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has described the recent terrorist attack and ambush in Borno State as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges plaguing Nigeria.
The former governor of Anambra State in a statement posted on his X page on Friday condemned the attack, which resulted in the deaths of several farmers and left many others missing in the Dumba community.
Obi emphasised that the tragedy underscores the urgent need for the government to strengthen its efforts to secure the country.

The 63-year-old leader stressed that the fight against terrorism must be unwavering, calling on President Bola Tinubu to deploy all available resources to ensure the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.
He also highlighted the need for security personnel on the frontlines to be adequately equipped, supported, and motivated to address these threats effectively.

Obi further stated that as a nation, it is essential to rise above politics to confront this menace.
He pointed out that insecurity is not solely a government issue; it requires a united front from all stakeholders, including community leaders, religious leaders, civil society, and every citizen.
“To the grieving families, no words can fully convey the depth of our sorrow for your loss. Your pain is shared by all Nigerians, and our thoughts and prayers are with you in this moment of profound grief. Together, we must remain steadfast in our resolve to build a secure and prosperous Nigeria”, Obi said.
