His resignation was contained in a letter signed by him and made available to journalists in Makurdi on Sunday.

The letter, titled “Resignation as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly”, stated: “I write to resign my position as Speaker, effective today, 24 August 2025. This is done in good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
Dajoh expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the opportunity to serve and pledged to remain committed to his duties as the legislator representing Gboko West State Constituency.
His resignation came after a turbulent week in the Assembly, which saw the suspension of four lawmakers—Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Shimawua Emmanuel (Vandeikya II), Cyril Ikong (Oju II), and Abu Umoru James (Apa)—over an alleged plot to impeach him.
The suspensions, enacted on 22 August during plenary, were based on accusations of attempting to destabilise the Assembly.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, who denied involvement in the impeachment plot, has yet to react to the resignation.
The Assembly is expected to elect a new Speaker in the coming days as Benue navigates its latest political crisis.
