The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State has formally declared its allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, affirming its readiness to follow his political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Leaders of the party in the area stated that they would be guided by whatever political decisions the former Rivers State governor takes concerning the future of the state. The declaration was made during Wike’s appreciation visit to Ahoada West on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, the APC Chairman in Ahoada West, Mr Rejoice Otobo, assured the minister of the unwavering loyalty and support of party members and residents of the local government. He attributed their commitment to Wike’s visible contributions and political influence in the area.
“We await instructions from you on the 2027 elections concerning Rivers State,” Otobo said. “Wherever you ask us to go, there we shall go; whatever you ask us to do is what we will do. All the good and the bad people of the LGA have decided that where you want us to go is where we will go.”
In a similar show of support, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada West, Mr Ikechukwu Obuzor, said Wike’s leadership had restored confidence and hope among the people. He pledged total loyalty and expressed confidence that the local government would strongly support the minister in the next general elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Council, Mr Chita Eugene, described Wike as the “political field marshal of the South-South,” commending him for attracting significant development projects to Rivers State. He said the visit was more than a courtesy call, describing it as recognition of effective leadership and dedicated public service.
Also speaking, the member representing Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Victor Obuzor, said Wike had earned the continued support of the people through his performance as governor and his developmental impact across the state.
The Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Mr Chidi Amadi, also pledged its support for Wike and reiterated its commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
In his remarks, Wike said the visit was to appreciate the people of Ahoada West for their overwhelming support for him and President Tinubu during the 2023 general elections. He stressed the need to reclaim Rivers State’s political relevance and insisted that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not be returned for a second term in 2027.
