Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a stark warning to Nigerians, urging them not to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking while addressing members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Rivers State, Amaechi claimed that a second term for President Tinubu would be catastrophic for Nigerians.
“Currently, Nigerians are complaining in President Tinubu’s first tenure; imagine what the second tenure will be like. Then, you’ll be dead and buried,” he said.
Amaechi, who recently joined the ADC-led coalition, also criticised the political environment in Rivers State, accusing electoral actors of manipulating results and discouraging public participation.
“Our state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them,” he told the gathering. “When people hear that results are already written, they don’t come out to vote. That must change.”

He charged ADC members to begin early mobilisation ahead of 2027 and form local committees to assess their political strength across wards and local governments.
“We are new members of the ADC; it’s the adopted party of the coalition. Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027,” Amaechi said. “Go home and start registration.”
He warned that continued rule under the current administration would only worsen the country’s growing economic hardship.
“We should encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government—or we will all die of hunger,” he concluded.
Amaechi’s comments add to growing criticism from opposition voices who accuse the Tinubu administration of failing to address pressing national challenges.
