Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has assured residents of Ese Odo, Okitipupa, Irele, and Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo that their overwhelming support during the last election will continue to translate into significant infrastructural and economic gains.
Speaking yesterday, during a “Thank-You” tour of the four local government areas, the governor highlighted key breakthroughs in industrialisation, security, and education that are set to redefine the state’s southern senatorial district.
A major highlight of the visit was the governor’s announcement regarding the Ondo Deep Sea Port.

He revealed that his administration successfully corrected errors in the original operating license, leading to its recent revalidation by the Federal Government (FG).
“This project is a gateway to international trade,” Aiyedatiwa stated, adding that the port corridor will also host several key developments.
A modular refinery is already under construction, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with an operator.
Plans are also underway for petrochemical plants, including facilities for fertiliser production.
In addition, new housing units are being developed around the refinery zone to accommodate the expected surge in population.
Addressing concerns over coastal safety, the governor disclosed that local private security firms have been engaged to secure the state’s waterways.
This move is intended to complement the work of traditional security agencies, allowing residents and businesses in riverine areas to operate without fear of piracy or kidnapping.
Aiyedatiwa brought hope to the people of Irele regarding the town’s long-standing obaship crisis.
He confirmed that the process of installing a new monarch is nearing completion.
Both ruling houses have been directed to withdraw their cases from court to facilitate the selection; and the list of warrant chiefs is already with the state government and will be presented for approval at the next State Executive Council meeting.
The governor insisted that the installation must strictly follow the 1969 chieftaincy declaration.
Reviewing his administration’s social achievements, the governor noted that for the first time in approximately 15 years, the state has conducted a massive teacher recruitment exercise.
The state has deployed over 2,000 new teachers to primary and secondary schools across the region.
On pensioner welfare, the governor affirmed that retirees are now receiving their payments regularly.
In infrastructure, approval was granted for the Agadagda Obon–Ilerikiri Road and the Sabomi Road.
