Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that no opposition candidate can defeat him in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election, citing his administration’s achievements, popularity, and the unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Speaking before the PDP Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja on Thursday evening, Adeleke expressed confidence that his record in office had earned him the trust and support of Osun residents ahead of his re-election bid.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Osun governorship election for 8 August 2026, with party primaries scheduled to hold between 24 November and 15 December 2025.
“There are no internal wranglings in Osun State,” Adeleke stated. “The PDP is united — we are one big family, and everything is going smoothly. The people of Osun will choose me again because I have performed excellently.”
Highlighting his administration’s accomplishments, Adeleke noted that his government had introduced transparency measures and technology-driven governance systems, allowing citizens to independently verify development projects.
“I am very confident that I will win. If I could defeat an incumbent before, now that I am the governor, it will be even easier. In less than two years, we have achieved unprecedented progress in Osun State. Nobody can defeat us,” he said.

The governor emphasised that he harbours no fear of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition party in the state. According to him, his popularity and goodwill extend beyond party lines.
“We are not afraid, why should I be scared? I am too popular! Even members of the APC and other parties show me love wherever I go,” he said enthusiastically.
Adeleke further expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to free and fair elections, stating that he believed the 2026 poll would be credible.
“My only request is a free, fair, and credible election. We will keep working hard, delivering development, and spreading joy across Osun State, dancing and working at the same time,” he added with his trademark cheer.
