Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, despite ongoing political tensions within the state.
Speaking in Osogbo on Tuesday during a meeting with cabinet members, special advisers and senior government officials, Adeleke said recent challenges, including the crisis affecting local governments in Osun, had not changed his political stance. The remarks were conveyed in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
“We have no problem with President Tinubu. He is our leader,” the governor stated, emphasising regional solidarity. “He represents the South-West, and I reaffirm our endorsement of Mr President for re-election in the best interest of the region.”
Adeleke noted that his support for Tinubu predates current political alignments, tracing it back to his earlier involvement with the Peoples Democratic Party. His comments are likely to draw attention given Nigeria’s often fluid political alliances.
The governor also used the occasion to commend residents for their continued backing of the Accord Party, which he said is gaining traction beyond Osun State. He described the party’s growing appeal as a sign of strengthening grassroots engagement.
Reiterating his administration’s priorities, Adeleke pledged to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends, with particular emphasis on youth empowerment, women’s development and workers’ welfare. He highlighted ongoing and planned investments in infrastructure, agro-industrialisation, education and healthcare as central to his government’s agenda.
In addition, the governor directed party officials to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts, calling for expanded membership registration and voter engagement across all 332 wards in the state.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and political stability, even as national attention gradually shifts towards the 2027 general elections.
