A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kama Ahmadu, has announced that the party will make industrialisation its top priority to transform the economy of Adamawa State and Northern Nigeria.
Ahmadu, who spoke on the region’s future on Sunday, explained that the ADC plans to move away from over-reliance on federal funding by building large-scale factories and processing plants.
He maintained that Northern Nigeria possesses vast natural resources and fertile land that remain underused.
To address this, he proposed the establishment of a ₦200 billion fertilizer manufacturing company in Adamawa State.

According to Ahmadu, this plant would support farmers across the North-East and could generate an annual profit of between ₦70 billion and ₦100 billion.
He noted that the project would create jobs and reduce the need for imported fertilizers.
In addition to agriculture, Ahmadu presented a plan for a ₦200 billion cement plant in Guyuk.
He stated that geological studies show Adamawa has about 80 million metric tonnes of limestone deposits in areas like Guyuk, Lamurde, and Girei.
This amount of limestone is more than enough to support a major factory.
Ahmadu said, “The proposed cement factory would operate a full-scale 4 million tonnes per annum.”
He projected that the facility could generate ₦260 billion in yearly revenue, leading to a profit of roughly ₦100 billion for the state.
Ahmadu urged leaders in Northern Nigeria to embrace a new economic mindset.
He stressed that resources alone do not create wealth without “visionary leadership and integrity”.
Ahmadu called for an end to corruption, with focus on transparency to empower young people through job creation.
