The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a 20-member Membership, Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee to oversee a nationwide membership exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee was inaugurated on Tuesday in Abuja by the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, who said the exercise would establish a credible, verifiable and up-to-date membership base across the country. According to Mark, a strong and well-documented membership is the lifeblood of any political party, determining its legitimacy, reach and prospects for electoral success.
Kashim Imam was inaugurated as Chairman of the committee, with Aisha Yesufu as Deputy Chairman and Sekonte Davies as Secretary. Other members include Senator Nurudeen Abatemi, Hon. Yomi Arokodare, Remi Fanibe, Adijat Ojelade, Hon. (Mrs) Abeje Egwa, Hon. Abas Anas Adamu, Dr Tanko Yunusa, Paul Lawrence Okorie, Dr Mrs Esther Irebo, Hon. Abdullahi Maibasira, Sir Stanley Ekezie, Prof. Festus Arunaye, Jibrin Sabo Keana, Hon. Mina Horsfall, Hon. Shehu Mohammed Koko, Chief Gbazuagu Nneke Gbazuagu and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
In his remarks, Mark said the committee had been mandated to harmonise existing membership records, eliminate inconsistencies and submit a 30-day interim report to the party’s National Working Committee. He outlined the committee’s terms of reference to include nationwide registration of new members, development of a comprehensive grassroots mobilisation strategy, and the deployment of both electronic and manual registration systems.
The committee is also expected to recommend standardised procedures for continuous membership registration and data management, strengthen party structures through proper integration of new members, and work closely with state and local party leaders to ensure unity, discipline and internal democracy. A comprehensive revalidation exercise is to be conducted across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Mark urged committee members to discharge their duties with integrity, fairness and transparency, stressing that the exercise was about inclusion rather than exclusion. “Unity and credibility are the foundation upon which the future of the ADC will be built,” he said, adding that the party must be repositioned to meet Nigerians’ expectations for credible leadership and democratic governance.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Chairman Kashim Imam pledged diligent and round-the-clock work to reconnect the party with ordinary Nigerians. He described the ADC as a grassroots movement committed to empowering the masses, the poor and the marginalised, and promised extensive mobilisation across urban and rural communities nationwide.
The ADC has gained renewed prominence since July 2025, when it was adopted as the coalition platform for opposition leaders seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Under the leadership of David Mark as National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, the party has intensified efforts to build structures and win broad public support across the country.
