The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stern disclaimer denying claims that it has appointed or is inaugurating a South West Chairman for the party.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, urged the public to disregard any such assertions circulating in political circles or on social media.

The statement read: “This is to inform the general public that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has not appointed any South West Chairman. Furthermore, the ADC is not inaugurating any South West Chairman at this time. The public is therefore advised to take note of this information and exercise caution regarding any claims or activities suggesting otherwise.”
The clarification comes amid ongoing efforts by the ADC to consolidate its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party, which has attracted attention through recent appointments to committees and its positioning as an opposition force, has faced various reports and speculation about zonal leadership changes.
The South West geopolitical zone remains a key area of focus for many political parties in Nigeria, given its significant voter base and influence.
Mallam Abdullahi’s statement emphasises the need for vigilance against potentially misleading information, which could confuse party members, supporters, and the wider electorate.

The ADC has in recent months issued similar disclaimers on issues such as fraudulent membership registration platforms, underscoring efforts to maintain transparency and organisational integrity.
The party continues to build its profile under National Chairman Sen. David Mark, with initiatives including the formation of policy committees and zonal structures in various regions.
However, no official South West Chairman appointment has been made or scheduled, according to the national leadership.
