The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of weaponising personal attacks to divert attention from the failures of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the APC continues to behave like an opposition party, despite being in power and holding significant control over the nation’s resources.
“The APC has chosen distraction over substance, insults over introspection, and propaganda over performance,” the statement read. “But we must remind them that while words can be manipulated, the facts on ground cannot.”
The ADC challenged the APC to explain why Nigerians are still facing high levels of insecurity, economic hardship, and national disunity, more than a year into the Tinubu presidency.
It accused the ruling party of launching petty attacks, particularly targeting figures such as former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, instead of addressing the pressing issues affecting citizens.
“It is unfortunate that a party that held the presidency, controlled both chambers of the National Assembly, and commanded the vast resources of the Nigerian state still behaves as if it were in opposition,” Abdullahi stated.
He further noted that Nigerians are seeking real answers to growing insecurity, hunger, joblessness, and despair, not political deflections or attacks on dissenting voices.
