The lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Jibrin, who defected from the APC to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in May 2022, announced his return during a large political rally held on Sunday in his hometown, Kofa, in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
Speaking at the rally, which drew thousands of supporters, Jibrin declared that his return to the APC reflected the collective decision of his political base. He stated that after extensive consultations with key stakeholders, community leaders, and youth groups, his supporters unanimously agreed to abandon the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement in favour of the ruling party.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the lawmaker confirmed the move and expressed gratitude to his constituents for their overwhelming support.
“Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano,” Jibrin wrote. “The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in office.”
He further revealed that nearly 2,000 Islamic scholars from his constituency had held special prayers for the President, seeking divine guidance, peace, and prosperity for Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.
Jibrin, who previously served as the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group during the 2023 general elections, is seen as a significant political figure in Kano politics. His return to the APC is expected to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and bolster its chances ahead of the 2027 polls.
Political analysts have described the defection as a strategic gain for the APC, especially as it continues to consolidate its influence in the North-West region.
Party leaders at both state and national levels are expected to formally welcome Jibrin back into the APC fold in an upcoming ceremony to be held in Kano.
