In a press statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Publicity Secretary, Josephine Itoyah-Splendor, the party described itself as “a beacon of unity, strength, and preparedness,” emphasising its determination not merely to contest but to triumph decisively.
The PDP announced that its candidates for the chairmanship and councillorship positions across the six area councils have been duly approved and endorsed by the national leadership under Acting National Chairman Umar Damagun.
Their nominations have also received the official validation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), underscoring what the party called its status as “the most organised, most credible, and most prepared political party in the FCT.”
Addressing recent rumours and alleged misinformation campaigns by opponents, the statement dismissed claims questioning the legitimacy of PDP candidates as baseless propaganda born of desperation.
It stressed that every required document has been properly signed and authenticated by the Damagun-led National Working Committee, rendering the candidates’ eligibility unquestionable despite any past internal disagreements within the party.
“When it comes to the 2026 Area Council Elections in the FCT, we are one body, one voice, one purpose,” the statement asserted, insisting that there are no factions or divisions capable of derailing the party’s campaign.
It reaffirmed full backing from the national leadership and projected an overwhelming electoral success built on the PDP’s track record of delivering progress, stability, and development to residents.
The party urged its supporters across the FCT to remain steadfast, reject opposing propaganda, and prepare to vote en masse for PDP candidates, whom it portrayed as men and women of proven integrity committed to continued service.

It called on voters to reject “non-performing parties” and reaffirm their trust in the PDP as the only party that consistently honours its promises.
Concluding on an optimistic note, the statement declared: “Victory is not just possible; it is inevitable, insha Allah.”
It reiterated the PDP’s self-image as the torchbearer of Nigerian democracy and the party of genuine progress.
