The Commissioner for Health in Ondo State, Dr. Banji Ajaka, announced that the state government has disbursed the sum of N34 million to cover the medical bill of forty-six residents.
Dr. Banji Ajaka, the Commissioner for Health, on behalf of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said this gesture aims to support residents with medical conditions.
Cheques were presented to the beneficiaries at the event, and he encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purpose.
“We are distributing these cheques to people with various ailments and sickness. They are unable to take care of their medical bills. The medical assisted programme sought approval for N230m for various people across the state.”
”But the budgetary approval is limited. We looked at their level of indices, and 46 persons benefitted from N34m.
“We appreciate Mr. Governor for the approval. He was compassionate. We implored them to use the money judiciously. We are advising everybody to key into the health insurance, “Ajaka said.
According to Governor Aiyedatiwa, he said its government sought the approval of N200 million from the state budget but ended up receiving N34 million for 46 persons.
For quality access to affordable healthcare, he urged them to enrol in a state health insurance scheme.
The beneficiaries praised the Governor Aiyedatiwa and the state Commissioner for Health, Ajaka, for their assistance and initiative towards the well-being of the people.
