President Bola Tinubu has extended warm Christmas greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and unity embodied in the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth.
In his heartfelt message, the president called on citizens to find solace in faith and renew their commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria.
Tinubu reflected on the profound meaning of Christmas, describing it as a reminder of divine prophecy fulfilled and the triumph of light over darkness.
“Christmas symbolises hope, love, and unity, resonating deeply with people of all faiths,” he said, emphasising the significance of the season in inspiring collective strength and resilience.
However, the president acknowledged the challenges Nigerians faced in 2024, citing recent tragic events in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, as well as natural disasters like floods and fires.
Expressing deep sympathy for those affected, he prayed for healing and comfort for grieving families, affirming that God’s compassion and mercy remain steadfast.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to show kindness and support to those in need, irrespective of social or financial status.
“A smile, a word of encouragement, or a simple act of kindness can brighten someone’s day,” he noted, encouraging citizens to extend a helping hand to their neighbours and community members during the festive season.
The president also paid tribute to Nigeria’s military personnel, commending their bravery in defending the nation.
He called on Nigerians to offer prayers and unwavering support for the troops, as well as for the nation’s leaders, to foster progress and unity.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to ease festive travels, Tinubu announced measures such as free train services and subsidised transportation costs on 144 routes nationwide.
He assured Nigerians of improved transportation security and convenience during the holiday season.
Looking ahead, the President expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, describing the country’s current trajectory as promising.
He urged Nigerians to renew their hope in the nation’s potential and work collectively towards its restoration and growth.
