Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have described as fictitious and misleading, the claim by former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, that Makinde is plotting to dethrone the monarch.
Both responded to claim by Fayose that the Oyo State Governor wants to remove the traditional ruler because of some misunderstanding between them.
In separate reactions issued through their media aides, both leaders described the alleged plan to dethrone the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland as an unfounded and baseless rumour.
Fayose, writing on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, had claimed that Governor Makinde was plotting to remove Ladoja from the throne.
He further alleged that the monarch would be queried for failing to attend the recent elevation ceremony of High Chief Sharafadeen Ali to the status of Oba in Ibadan.
Responding to the allegation, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dotun Oyelade, firmly denied any such plan, stating that the government had neither contemplated nor discussed such action.
“By now, Nigerians know who and what to believe, especially when the information comes from a particular quarter.
“Oyo State Government has never contemplated, discuss or plan such an action. There has to be a credible motive for every government action and this, coming from the unofficial spokesman of our opponents is better put in the Refuse Dump where it belongs.
“Desperate politics foists thoughless propaganda and reduces Democracy into joke,” he said.
Similarly, the media aide to Oba Ladoja, Chief Adeola Oloko, dismissed Fayose’s claim as entirely unfounded.
He maintained that there was no rift between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan that could warrant such a move.
According to him, “it will be most unfortunate, if it is not a rumour. I dont see cause of friction between Governor Makinde and Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
