Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has criticised Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over what he described as the deplorable state of infrastructure and public services in Ose Local Government Area.
Afod, who said he had been appealing to the state government for nearly a month, publicly called out the governor on Monday evening, accusing authorities of neglecting the basic needs of residents.
In a video message, the actor painted a grim picture of life in parts of the council area, highlighting poor road networks, abandoned schools, and a failing healthcare system. He also alleged that some communities had been without electricity for decades, noting that Idoani had remained in darkness for eight years.
Addressing the situation, Afod said, “You think I will keep quiet if you ignore my plea for Ose Local Government. No, I’m not keeping quiet.”
He specifically drew attention to the condition of schools in the area, including a nursery and primary school in Idoani, which he said had been deserted due to poor infrastructure and lack of teachers. According to him, many educators had left the communities, leaving children without access to basic education.
The actor further lamented the lack of accessible roads, stating that several communities in Ose LGA are effectively cut off, making movement and economic activity extremely difficult.
Beyond education and transportation, Afod raised concerns about the healthcare system, claiming that general hospitals in Idoani had been shut down, leaving residents without access to medical services. He also noted the absence of commercial banking facilities, which has further compounded economic hardship in the area.
Afod urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to urgently intervene by engaging relevant stakeholders, including the local government chairman, lawmakers, and other representatives, to address the situation.
“How long will Ose Local Government continue like this?” he asked.
