In a recent post shared on Instagram, the actress recounted several experiences where she was allegedly denied entry into entertainment venues because she arrived alone, despite being willing to pay like other customers.

According to Etinosa, such restrictions often target women who show up at social venues without male escorts, while men are allowed to enter freely without facing similar scrutiny.
Furthermore, she criticised what she described as a double standard in how women are perceived in nightlife spaces. She questioned why women are frequently judged or suspected of engaging in illicit activities simply because they are alone.

The actress argued that a woman’s decision to visit a club or bar by herself should not automatically lead to assumptions about her character or intentions.
Etinosa also shared that some of the experiences occurred during a difficult period in her personal life. She recalled that in 2014, while working as an engineer in the oil and gas sector and dealing with a troubled marriage, she sometimes visited clubs alone to relax.
“I remember when in 2014 I was an engineer surviving a messy marriage. I went alone to clubs to spend my oil and gas money to drink and forget my difficult situation,” she wrote.
In addition, she revealed that similar incidents occurred after she moved to Lagos to pursue her acting career. According to her, she occasionally faced resistance from venue staff who questioned her presence when she arrived alone.
“I wasn’t a hook-up, I just wanted to enjoy music and watch others dance,” she said, explaining that she sometimes had to argue her way into venues.
Moreover, Etinosa questioned why the same restrictions are rarely applied to men. She pointed out that men are generally allowed to enter such spaces without suspicion or interrogation.
“Why do they think every girl who is not with a man is an OS?” she asked. “Why don’t they discriminate against men who are alone?”
She therefore urged feminists and women’s rights supporters to address the issue and challenge the social norms that allow such treatment to persist.
Her comments have since sparked discussions online about gender bias in nightlife policies and the broader treatment of women in public social spaces.
