The consignment, reportedly transported from Lafia in Nasarawa State, was en route to Kankara in Katsina State.
According to the sources, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that tracked the suspect’s movement and activities.
“Nafisa, a native of Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, was intercepted before completing the delivery allegedly meant for bandits operating in the Kankara forest,” a source said.
The suspect reportedly confessed to being involved in the illicit arms trade for about two months.
“She revealed that the ammunition was handed to her by an individual identified as ‘Teso,’ who she claimed operates in collaboration with a military operative based in Lafia, Nasarawa State,” the source added.
Further findings indicated that Ms Usman admitted facilitating transactions worth over ₦5 million through Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for onward transportation to Katsina.
“The supplies were intended for a bandit leader known as Mallam Haruna, said to be active in the Kankara axis. She also mentioned supplying ammunition to individuals identified as Buba and Abu, operating within the same forest region,” the source said.
The suspect also disclosed that she was introduced to the alleged network by a Kano-based livestock trader identified as Sulaiman.
Security officials said the operation underscores ongoing efforts by the DSS to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt illicit arms supply chains, and strengthen national security.
