Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed Speaker Adebowale Ogundoyin to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The lawmakers made the declaration during plenary on Wednesday. Ogundoyin, who represents Ibarapa East State Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received the full backing of the House.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency and hails from Ibadan.
Fadeyi said he and his colleagues had resolved to mobilise the people of Oyo State to support the Speaker, whom he described as a stabilising force within the legislative arm of government.
“He has what it takes to succeed Governor Makinde in 2027,” the Deputy Speaker told the House.
The Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin, joined in the endorsement, describing Ogundoyin as a leader who has demonstrated capacity beyond expectations.
Other lawmakers also threw their weight behind the move, arguing that the Speaker’s performance had clearly shown his readiness for higher responsibility.
The assembly members pledged to support Ogundoyin’s aspiration to succeed Governor Makinde, describing the endorsement as a reflection of confidence in his leadership and ability to build on the current administration’s achievements.
