The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s youth empowerment initiatives are designed to serve all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.
Speaking during an interactive session with students and youth leaders at “The Nest Resource Centre” in Abuja yesterday night, the minister clarified that the administration’s focus is on expanding opportunities and restoring national prosperity rather than partisan gains.
“NELFUND is for Nigerians; it is not for APC. The 3MTT is for Nigerians; it is not for APC,” Idris stated, addressing a diverse audience moderated by APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel.

During the session, the minister provided updated data on two flagship programmes that have seen massive enrolment across the country.
Over 788,000 students are currently benefiting from the scheme, with more than ₦250 billion committed to tuition and upkeep support.
He also highlighted the 3MTT (Three Million Technical Talent) initiative, which aims to equip three million Nigerians with high-demand digital skills to enhance their global competitiveness.
“What excites me most is that even those who say these programmes are not real are enrolling,” Idris noted, citing this as proof that the initiatives are successfully reaching their intended beneficiaries.
Idris also used the platform to highlight the positive trajectory of the Nigerian economy following bold policy reforms.
He pointed to a significant decline in inflation and Nigeria’s improved standing in the global financial community.
As of December 2025, the inflation rate stood at 14.45%, dropping below the government’s 15% projection.
Food prices have shown a steady decline, thereby improving the purchasing power of citizens.
Additionally, the country exited the FATF Grey List, a development that enhances investor confidence and access to global markets.
“These are not coincidences; they are results of deliberate policy choices,” the minister remarked, adding that the exit from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list is a major milestone for the country’s financial integrity.
The minister concluded with a strong message to the youth regarding their digital influence.
While describing the current administration as the most “youth-friendly” in history due to its high-level appointments and empowerment schemes, he urged responsible citizenship.

He cautioned against the spread of fake news, advising young Nigerians to verify information before sharing it online.
“Social media is a powerful tool for development, but it can also be used to harm society,” he warned.
“Everything the President is doing is about restoring prosperity, dignity, and renewing hope, so that young people can fulfil their potential.”
