Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has celebrated former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, describing him as a consistent and courageous figure in Nigerian politics as he marks his 65th birthday.
Wike conveyed his goodwill message in a congratulatory letter released on Friday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka. The minister praised Fayose for his unwavering loyalty, forthrightness, and clarity in public service, noting that such qualities have distinguished him over the decades.
According to Wike, Fayose’s 65th birthday is not merely a personal milestone but a testament to divine grace and a reminder of the need for continued dedication to national service. “That you have attained this age is no doubt a confirmation of the grace the Almighty God has bestowed on you, and a challenge for more service to our country, Nigeria,” he wrote.
Wike emphasised that, even at 65, the former Ekiti governor remains a significant figure in the nation’s political and governance landscape. He noted that Fayose has consistently demonstrated uncommon courage, maintaining clear and firm positions on national issues regardless of political tides.
The minister further described Fayose as a trusted friend and brother whose integrity and loyalty continue to inspire others. “Ayodele, my younger brother, may you reach the age of your elder brother in good health, and may God continue to make your days on earth fruitful, with immeasurable blessings,” Wike prayed.
He added a personal tribute, referring to the celebrant as “a dependable ally, whose yes is yes, and no is no,” before wishing him a happy birthday.
Fayose, known for his outspoken political style and grassroots appeal, served two non-consecutive terms as governor of Ekiti State and remains an influential voice within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and national politics.
Wike’s message adds to the stream of congratulatory notes from political associates, admirers, and supporters honouring Fayose’s contributions to governance, democracy, and civic engagement in Nigeria.
