The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has expressed profound sadness over the sudden passing of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died on Thursday.
In a condolence message addressed to the state governor, Douye Diri, Walson-Jack described the late Ewhrudjakpo as a distinguished son of Bayelsa land, a remarkable public servant and leader.

Walson-Jack highly praised the deceased’s character, noting that his service, character, and loyalty “stood out as a beacon across the nation.”
She highlighted their professional connection, stating, “He was a brother whom I had the distinct privilege to work with on several State assignments, as builders of our dear Bayelsa State, the glory of all lands.”
Walson-Jack noted that Ewhrudjakpo served the state with honour and outstanding commitment.
She added that he embodied the values of diligence, humility, and integrity, and remained a steadfast partner in governance, contributing immensely to the stability and progress of the state.
She offered prayers for Diri, the immediate family, and the people of Ofoni Federated communities, asking for the strength and fortitude to bear the “irreparable loss.”

In unravelling the cause of the death, Diri has ordered that an autopsy be carried out on the deceased deputy governor’s remains.
