Troops of Operation Hadin Kai under the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected informants linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspects were apprehended during an early morning operation on March 23, according to a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency platform focused on developments in the Lake Chad region.
Arrest During Routine Patrol
The two suspects, identified as Musa Alhaji Isah, 28, and Akona Alhaji, 30, were arrested at about 5:30 a.m. by troops of the 25 Brigade while conducting routine security operations.
Both men are said to be natives of the Shiwari community in Damboa LGA.
Military sources indicated that the suspects were intercepted after exhibiting suspicious movements within an area described as “Serial 7 general area,” a strategic outer deployment zone leading to the Timbuktu Triangle.
The Timbuktu Triangle is widely regarded as a stronghold for terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

Suspected Reconnaissance Activity
Preliminary findings suggest that the suspects may have been carrying out reconnaissance activities for insurgent elements in the region.
Security officials believe such movements are often linked to intelligence gathering aimed at aiding terrorist operations, including attacks on military formations and civilian settlements.
During the operation, troops recovered several items from the suspects, including: Two bicycles, One mobile phone, Three daggers, A torchlight, A wristwatch, Charms and Cash sum of N6,900
The recovered items are currently being analysed as part of ongoing investigations.
The suspects have been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated by the Military Intelligence Response unit.
Authorities say the investigation is aimed at uncovering possible links to Boko Haram and ISWAP networks operating within the Damboa axis and surrounding areas.
The latest arrest highlights ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt insurgent activities in Borno State and the wider North-East region.
Security operations in the area have intensified in recent months, with troops targeting supply routes, informant networks, and known hideouts used by terrorist groups.
Military authorities have repeatedly emphasised the importance of intelligence-driven operations in weakening insurgent capabilities and restoring stability to affected communities.
As investigations continue, officials say further updates will be provided on the suspects and any potential network connections uncovered.
