ays after an assassin attempted to kill former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate and his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Kamala Harris have resumed their campaigns.
Trump on Tuesday, travelled to Michigan two days after a failed assassination attempt against him was foiled at his golf course in Florida.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) will host Vice President Harris in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania for an interview on Tuesday.
The event and another interview with Hispanic media, recorded Monday and set to air Tuesday, will be the first time Harris will have an opportunity to react in-person to the apparent bid on Trump’s life.
The former President and Republican nominee was whisked away by the Secret Service after a gunman tried to kill him on his golf course in Florida on Sunday, in the second such close call for Trump in as many months.
Despite security officials believing the suspect acted alone, the former President has laid the blame on President Joe Biden and Mrs Harris for the scare over what he called their ”rhetoric” about him endangering democracy.
The two candidates have denounced the assassination bid, with the Vice President saying “violence has no place in America.”
However, the former president insists that rhetoric from Biden and Harris “is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country.”
The critical visits of Trump in Michigan and Harris in Pennsylvania come as both candidates focus on the half-dozen swing states crucial for victory in the country’s Electoral College system.
