President Bola Tinubu has directed the recruitment of over 98,000 grassroots campaigners in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Ondo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Victor Olabimtan, disclosed this on Tuesday during the inauguration of the group in Akure. He said 25 canvassers would be selected from each of the state’s 3,933 polling units, bringing the total to 98,325.
According to him, each canvasser is expected to convince at least five voters to support the President during the election. He added that the recruits would be paid three months before the poll and two months after, with funds to be provided by President Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Olabimtan explained that the group was set up nationwide to promote the Federal Government’s policies and connect them with the people at the grassroots. He said the initiative would also help gather feedback from communities.
“The work of winning elections starts from the polling units,” he said, noting that the strategy would strengthen mobilisation and ensure victory.
He urged members to work closely with the All Progressives Congress structure across the state to improve outreach and unity.
Olabimtan also assured that the group would not clash with existing support groups, adding that it would focus on awareness and mobilisation efforts.
