President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of Abdullahi Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), reversing recent management changes within the state-owned broadcaster.
Dembos, first appointed as Director-General in September 2022 and reappointed by President Tinubu in October 2023, was briefly removed in August 2025 amid leadership reshuffles.

He has now been directed to resume office and complete his three-year tenure, according to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The President also reinstated Ayo Adewuyi as Executive Director of News.
Adewuyi, who assumed the role in 2024, will continue his three-year term, which runs until 2027.
The directive nullifies earlier appointments to key positions at the NTA, including a new Director-General, Executive Director of News, Executive Director of Marketing, and Managing Director of NTA Enterprises.
A seasoned broadcaster, Dembos has held various leadership positions within the NTA, including General Manager of NTA Lokoja and Kano, and Acting Zonal Director of NTA Kaduna Network Centre.
He was appointed Executive Director of Marketing in 2022 before ascending to Director-General.

Adewuyi, tasked with overseeing the news division, has been instrumental in driving editorial operations since his appointment last year.
While Onanuga did not state reasons for the reversal, the decision effectively restores NTA’s previous leadership structure.
