President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday held a private working lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
The meeting, disclosed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via X, formed part of the president’s ongoing 10-day working leave.

Onanuga wrote: “President Bola Tinubu, with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, during a working private lunch at the Élysée Palace, Paris. Wednesday, 10 September 2025.”
Although the agenda of the closed-door talks was not revealed, the meeting underscored growing ties between Nigeria and France, particularly in trade, security, and energy.
Tinubu began his annual leave on 4 September, departing Abuja for a working vacation that includes visits to France and the United Kingdom.
The lunch with Macron was among his diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening partnerships to support Nigeria’s economic and security goals.

This is Tinubu’s seventh trip to France since assuming office in May 2023. He is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements abroad.
