Tinubu commissions Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) officially inaugurated the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), on Tuesday, December 10, at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters.

This state-of-the-art facility will serve as the central hub for the NIS and other paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior, fostering seamless sharing, storing, and processing of security intelligence in real-time.

The complex features advanced technological security solutions, including a Data Centre, Command and Control Centre, Visa Approval Centre (VAC), ECOWAS Biometrics Centre, Solar Farm, and Passport Personalisation Centre.

These components are strategically designed to combat security challenges like insurgencies, banditry, cybercrime, smuggling, and other trans-border issues.

One of the key highlights is the new Command and Control Centre, which uses the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) to pre-profile individuals entering the country and flag persons of interest at international airports.

Additionally, BATTIC houses an impressive 8.3 Petabyte data centre, which will serve as the backbone for the Ministry of Interior’s digital infrastructure.

President Tinubu acknowledged the significant contributions of technical partners and government agencies such as the Ministry of Aviation, DSS, ONSA, ICRC, and NCIA, in bringing the project to fruition.

He also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior team, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, and thanked key dignitaries who attended the commissioning ceremony.

This landmark project, initiated just 12 months ago, will play a pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s #RenewedHope agenda by addressing security challenges at the nation’s borders.
