President Bola Tinubu has named Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.
Alongside this appointment, the President also approved key leadership positions within the institution.
Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor, Sanusi Gambo Adamu as the Registrar, Ibrahim Dalhat as the Bursar, and Prof. Daniel Abubakar as the University Librarian.
Furthermore, Tinubu constituted members of the university’s Governing Council, selecting Mr Thomas Etuh (North Central), Chief Fabian Nwaora (South East), Prof. Femi Taiwo (South West), and Zarah Bukar (North East) to serve in this capacity.
These individuals were chosen for their exemplary records in academia, administration, and leadership, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering quality education in Nigeria.

President Tinubu tasked them with leveraging their expertise to establish the university as a center for innovation, skills development, and research in line with the administration’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’
He further encouraged the newly appointed officers to provide strategic leadership and lay the groundwork for the institution’s long-term success as it prepares to welcome its first set of students in September 2025.
The Federal University of Applied Sciences, previously known as Nok University, underwent a name change following its acquisition by the federal government.
