President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed eight new permanent secretaries in the federal civil service to fill existing and upcoming vacancies across various states and geopolitical zones. 

The appointments follow recommendations made by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation after a thorough selection process.

In a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, December 16 evening, the new permanent secretaries were named as follows:

  • Onwusoro Ihemelandu from Abia State
  • Ndiomu Philip from Bayelsa State
  • Anuma Nlia from Ebonyi State
  • Ogbodo Nnam from Enugu State
  • Kalba Usman from Gombe State
  • Usman Aminu from Kebbi State
  • Oyekunle Nwakuso from Rivers State
  • Nadungu Gagare from Kaduna State

These appointments mark the second batch of permanent secretaries appointed by President Tinubu, following the first set announced in June 2024, which included officials from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, and Zamfara states, among others.

In his statement, President Tinubu urged the new appointees to demonstrate unwavering dedication, diligence, and innovation in their roles, stressing that their commitment to national development would be critical in ensuring the effective and efficient running of the federal civil service.

The appointments come as part of the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the civil service and ensure good governance through the strategic deployment of experienced and capable individuals to key positions across the country.
