Nigeria’s Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa, has claimed that terrorists are ready to die during their attacks because they believe they will get rewards in heaven.
He shared this information in his response to journalists on Thursday, after giving a security report to President Bola Tinubu.
According to Musa, the mindset of these attackers is the main reason for the recent increase in violence.
He explained that these individuals are willing to commit any crime and lose their lives because they think dying during the Ramadan period will take them straight to paradise.
Because they want these heavenly rewards, they do not fear death.
Musa noted that this is a common pattern with terrorists. He described the situation as a war where the enemy is not afraid to be killed.
Because they feel they have something great waiting for them after death, they are prepared to carry out dangerous acts without worrying about their own safety.
Musa said, “. . . . It is a war. Again, it is usual with terrorists during Ramadan period, they feel when they die they are going to heaven so they are ready to commit any offence, get killed because they feel they have rewards.”
Nevertheless, Musa stated that the military is working hard to stop them.
He said the army has changed the way it fights to match the situation. So far, the military has moved into the areas where the terrorists hide and has killed some of their leaders.
He further maintained that the government will continue to do more to handle the security challenges.
Even though the terrorists are willing to die for their beliefs, Musa assured the public that the military will keep pushing forward to take control of the situation and protect the people.
