Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP militants have intercepted another fleet of trucks transporting beans to Maiduguri from Monnguno town near Burmari village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Daily Trust, the terrorists intercepted a trailer and three dump trucks five days ago while transporting maize and building materials to Monguno and Mairari village in Guzamala LGAs of the state.

One of the truck drivers and security sources said that the recent incident occurred on Saturday, around 9.30am, between Burmari and Garin Kashim villages
“We believed they were the same gangs that burned down the trucks five days back. We ran into the boys (terrorists) close to Burmari. I abandoned my vehicle and ran into the bush”.
“This time, they blocked two trailers and three of our dump trucks. They set the trailer heads ablaze and melted into the bush. We were transporting beans to Maiduguri when the insurgents struck,” he said.
Another witness said the terrorists deflected the vehicle’s tires before setting them ablaze, adding that, “Luckily enough, the drivers who escaped this time around mobilised people from the community and quenched it before reaching the trailer’s bodies.”
Another driver complained that security operatives are not stationed at dangerous portions of the road, unlike what was obtainable on other volatile roads across the state.
“If you are travelling to Gwoza, you will see soldiers stationed strategically on the road to prevent such an attack, but we don’t have such on this road.
“Many truck owners have now withdrawn their vehicles from this road. These things kept happening, and nothing has been done about it so far,“ he said.
One of the security sources said the insurgents deliberately resorted to attacking the trucks to frustrate efforts by the government to relocate some communities along the road.
He also assured that the military has established a base in the area to protect the Internally Displaced Persons willing to return to their ancestral homes.
