Vice President Kashim Shettima has said that posterity will look kindly upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking what he described as “hard but necessary decisions” aimed at securing a better future for Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, Shettima commended Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to economic reform and diversification, insisting that the President possesses both the political will and the courage to take bold actions in the national interest.
“In President Bola Tinubu, you have an ally, a friend who grew up in the same ecosystem as you, who speaks your language of business and commerce, who understands the economic terrain, and most importantly, who has the political courage,” Shettima stated.
He highlighted the President’s recent trip to Brazil, which resulted in the signing of five key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Brazilian government. These agreements span critical sectors including aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture.

According to the Vice President, these MoUs are not mere diplomatic gestures but “deliberate and intentional” efforts aimed at diversifying the Nigerian economy and deepening international collaboration.
“These are not random actions. These are calculated steps taken by a government that understands the challenges before it and is working tirelessly to unlock Nigeria’s full potential,” he said.
Shettima also announced that the Federal Government is considering the formation of a special task team to conceptualise and implement a new national framework for architectural standards. The initiative, he explained, aims to ensure that infrastructure development in Nigeria is not only functional but also adheres to globally recognised standards.
“The proposed task team will work towards standardising Nigeria’s architectural landscape, ensuring that form and function align with our ambitions as a modern and forward-looking nation,” he said.
The Vice President reiterated that the Tinubu administration is fully committed to creating an enabling environment for investors and innovators, and that the government will continue to pursue reforms that are tough in the short term but beneficial in the long run.
He called on Nigerians to remain patient and optimistic, noting that meaningful development often requires difficult choices.
“As leaders, we are not here to make popular decisions. We are here to make the right ones — decisions that will ensure the Nigeria of tomorrow is better than the Nigeria of today,” Shettima concluded.
