Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to fostering the growth of local enterprises, describing them as vital to Nigeria’s economic sustainability.
Speaking yesterday during a visit to SecureID’s Smartcard and Digital Solutions Facility in Lagos, the Vice President commended the company’s remarkable journey from a local startup to a continental leader in digital manufacturing.
The visit marked SecureID’s 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of excellence in smartcard production and technology solutions.
Shettima praised SecureID for its contributions to Nigeria’s industrial development, noting that the company now produces 200 million cards annually, including Nigerian international passports and voter identification cards.
“This enterprise embodies the promise of what our nation can achieve when our innovative minds are given the support to compete with the rest of the world,” he said.

“SecureID has proven that with vision, dedication, and hard work, Nigerian businesses can stand tall on the global stage.”
Emphasising the importance of enterprise development in driving economic growth, the Vice President reiterated President Tinubu’s unwavering support for Nigerian businesses.

“Time and again, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has demonstrated beyond words that the health and survival of our enterprises are the true catalysts of a vibrant economy,” Shettima stated.
“We can no longer afford to pay lip service to supporting businesses, regardless of their scale.”
He highlighted government interventions aimed at boosting industrial expansion, including fiscal reforms and the Manufacturing Sector Fund, which encourages investment in key industries.
“SecureID is proof that Nigeria is not just a consumer nation but a creator of world-class solutions. This is the standard we must uphold to transform our economy, create opportunities, and raise the living standards of millions of Nigerians,” Shettima added.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to creating an enabling business environment, the Vice President assured that the administration would continue to implement policies that support industrial growth and technological advancement.
“We will continue to support enterprises by fostering an environment where innovation thrives and where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed,” he said.

The highlight of the event was a tour of SecureID’s production facility, led by the Vice President and accompanied by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, as well as other dignitaries.
Notable attendees included SecureID’s Group Managing Director, Kofo Akinkugbe, and Chairman, Dotun Suleiman; Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Olasupo Olusi; Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa; President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Otunba Francis Meshioye, and representatives of commercial banks, among others.
