Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated the National Road Safety Advisory Council (NaRSAC).
In a statement posted on his X account, Shettima urged NaRSAC members to adopt global best practices to effectively reduce traffic accidents.

He stressed the importance of establishing clear National Road Safety Strategy targets and ensuring robust coordination among federal, state, and local governments to achieve common road safety objectives.

During the ceremony held on Friday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima highlighted the crucial importance of road safety for the well-being of all citizens.
He said: “Road safety is not merely a matter of policy but a critical part of the lifeline that connects the people of this nation.”

He commended the commitment of the FRSC, highlighting that the Corps has successfully developed a comprehensive strategy to tackle the nation’s road traffic challenges despite its relatively short tenure.

The establishment of NaRSAC is in line with the recommendations from the World Bank Country Capacity Review, which pinpointed key areas for enhancement in Nigeria’s road traffic administration and safety management.
