Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja following the successful conclusion of a week-long diplomatic mission.
The mission included him representing President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York and conducting strategic engagements in Germany.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President) disclosed this in a statement on his X page on Thursday.
During his time at UNGA, Shettima presented Tinubu’s national statement, which included a strong call for comprehensive reforms of the United Nations.
He also passionately advocated for Africa’s sovereignty over its vast mineral resources, which he valued at approximately $700 billion.
Shettima’s schedule included strengthening alliances with various international partners, such as the United Kingdom and the Gates Foundation.
A key diplomatic highlight was a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who commended Nigeria’s pursuit of a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
Engaging with the global investment community, he spotlighted Nigeria’s significant $200 billion energy transition opportunity.
Furthermore, Shettima met with the Nigerian diaspora community, assuring them of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to their inclusion in its policies and programs before departing for his engagements in Germany.
