Vice President Kashim Shettima has condemned a bomb explosion that claimed approximately five lives and injured several others at a Mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, Borno State.
Describing the incident as a “despicable assault” on innocent citizens, he assured that the attack would not undermine the nation’s peace.
In a statement released on Thursday, Shettima revealed that President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate intensification of security operations across Borno State in direct response to the blast.

He announced that the Federal Government (FG) is already deploying additional tactical teams to the area.
These teams are tasked with tracking down and apprehending the individuals responsible for the terror attack.
“The Federal Government will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the peace and security of our nation. Our security agencies are working around the clock to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice immediately,” Shettima declared.
He expressed firm confidence in the current security architecture to not only arrest the culprits but also to fully unravel the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Shettima extended the FG’s heartfelt sympathies to the Government of Borno State, the residents of Maiduguri, and the families of those who lost loved ones.
He reaffirmed that the perpetrators would face “the full weight of the law.”
Shettima emphasised that the Tinubu administration has remained steadfast in its constitutional duty to safeguard Nigeria’s unity and stability since assuming office in 2023.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to providing all necessary resources to security agencies to ensure the defeat of terrorism.

It also pledged to strengthen collaboration through close coordination with state authorities and local security groups.
In addition, the government emphasised an enhanced focus on protecting vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure across the North East and other regions.
“This commitment remains steadfast under God and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he affirmed, reiterating that the administration will continue to act decisively against all forms of terrorism.
